UnitedHealthOne had the advantage of experience with selling to individuals and families long before the exchanges came along. After years in the individual market, the brand centered around clearly conveying the benefits and limitations of their plans. Unlike group insurance, where the consumer can be left wondering what the plan covers and to what extent, the individual side discloses all of that information upfront for consumers to make an informed decision.

I formatted these brochures to be as consumer-friendly as possible with a magazine feel to maintain interest, using color to denote plan types and optional benefits. Graphics help communicate where each plan type is within the range of affordability vs. risk. I also added a folded glossary to the cover to make it easy for the consumer to reference terms they may not be familiar with.
